But judging from the specs, we all knew what it is. A Mid-tier Smartphone disguise as a Flagship. Here I will be taking an in-depth look at the handset and will be naming the lists of Strength and Weaknesses.

To be frank, I really don’t like the design, it reminds me of the old candy bar phones and it is not the best looking phones I’ve tested. The corners are a bit sharp unlike the curved and sleek design of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the DooGee F3 Pro. Also the rear back shell has a close reference to the Oppo R5, the “Diamond 3D Mirror like” effect which I find an eye sore. But the whole frame appears to be well built and would likely survive punishment.Even though you are given a Sim Pin Slot remover, the Simcard Slots can easily be pried open with just your fingernails.

Another issue is the weird orientation on how you will place the Dual SIM Slots, it is confusing and technically difficult to place sim cards properly.I don’t know why this issue is always popping out whenever you are using Dual SIMS. It is annoying, even though you already set the SIM for calls and another for data, at different times, it will show a notification to SIM Settings changed.

For that reason, I only used 1 SIM.Signal Strength and reception is good, no drop calls or intermittent disconnections experienced. The overall call quality is also acceptable, although the volume is a bit low and the voice does sound artificial.

The WiFi connectivity and signal strength is good with no issues of disconnection as well as range. Bluetooth also works well and so far i did not encounter any issues. At first, I honestly did not know if the phone came with Fingerprint or Touch ID Support.

I did discover it on the settings menu and the fact that the Menu Key or button also acts as the Fingerprint Scanner. In terms of sensitivity, I would recommend phones with this option at the back, like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, it is far more sensitive and recognition is quick and responsive.

The Fingerprint Scanner of the Bluboo Xtouch takes a bit of getting use to and because of the small area of the Menu button, sometimes getting your fingerprints to register first takes a bit of trial and error. However, once that’s done, it works as it should, but I do seldom use this feature anyway.

Perhaps one of my merits of the Xtouch is the fact that it is smooth and overall performance is actually really good. Compared to the DooGee F3 Pro, which used the same chipset, the Xtouch handles multitasking better and far too few noticeable lags or hitches. UI transition is smooth and the lack of bloatware means the system runs cleanly and better.

In terms of Gaming Performance, compared to the DooGee F3 Pro, my overall user experience is great especially on 3D intensive games. Newer Titles like Modern Combat 5 ran fine and surprisingly better than the DooGee F3 Pro. There is also no issues in terms of Touch Screen responsiveness.

Even though Bluboo introduce their own UI on the system, it seems to be far too superficial. I mean, there are really not a whole lot of improvements or customizations. It is native Android 5.1 Lollipop and nothing more. The Camera UI is also the stock version and thus doesn’t really offer anything unique.

The good thing, is that performance is overall smooth and no issues of lags or hitches. No bloatwares added to the system and the system memory ram cleanly with no apps taking up space. I can’t say anything bad of the display, even though it isn’t the best, color reproduction is still satisfactory and touch screen sensitivity is actually good. No weird behaviours here, unlike what you get from the DooGee F3 Pro. But I have to say that 1080p is a bit taxing for the Mid-tier chipset underneath, the 5.0 inch IPS display would probably benefit from a lowered 720p HD, which will probably give it a gaming performance boost.

The navigation keys have two classifications, a tactile sensitive Menu Button and two capacitive touch sensitive keys. Believe me, it can take some getting used to, especially if you are a frequent user of only touch screen keys. The Backlit is also color Blue but is only faint, which can’t barely be seen. The camera is really not good, the DooGee F3 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 offers a much better experience. For starters, the color reproduction is unnatural, inaccurate and with very high noise.

Although on good lighting, image quality fairs better but still isn’t a good shooter. Video also doesn’t offer anything new, and it can barely pick up especially on low light where the noise levels are actually very high and annoying.

The UI is also native Android and thus nothing new or unique. The built in 3000mAh battery gave me a battery runtime of about 7.5 hours, which is really what I expected it to be. The handset also supports Fastcharging mode, and you can charge the phone in just 1.5hrs (100%).The Bluboo Xtouch I wouldn’t exactly call a bad phone, it has some merits as well. Overall, it is a solid midranger and for the price, it gives you good battery life and smooth performance with support for Fingerprint or Touch ID protection of your Data. However, it you are looking for a good camera phone, then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 might be a better pick up. It also offers better performance and more sleek build quality. What interest me of the Xtouch is the simplicity of the OS, the lack of bloatware which currently plagues most Smartphones nowadays, and thus, you are assured of a clean slate.

Good Performance No Bloatware on the system Good gaming and multitasking performance OK Call Quality and Signal Strength Good Connectivity Above average Battery life with Quick Charging support
